1. Insurance checks
We ask tradespeople to provide proof of public liability insurance that covers the type of work they do. This means that if something goes wrong, there is a policy in place that may help cover damage or accidents linked to the job.
We review documents to confirm they are current and in the name of the business or individual applying. If cover lapses, we can remove or pause their verified status.
2. ID verification
We ask for government-issued photo ID so we know who is behind the profile. This helps reduce fake profiles and gives you more confidence that the person you see on Trustmark Trades is the person turning up at your door.
Where needed, we may ask for additional details or a clearer copy before approving an account.
3. Video profiles
Many tradespeople record a short video introduction. This is your chance to see and hear who they are before you invite them into your home.
We review videos to make sure they are clear, appropriate and match the person on the profile. We encourage tradespeople to talk about the type of work they do, how long they have been trading and what homeowners can expect on the day.
4. Ongoing checks and feedback
We may ask for updated documents over time and we pay attention to issues that are raised with us. If we see repeated serious concerns, we can investigate and take action on the account.
No system is perfect, but these steps are designed to make it easier to find tradespeople who take their work and reputation seriously.
